The PhD defence of Dr. Balachandran K (HOD of Computer Science,CUFE) was successfully completed on 29th July 2015 at PMC Tech College, Hosur. The thesis was based on the topic ” A Novel Adaptive and Ensemble based Classifier Prediction Model for the Pre-Diagnosis of Lung Cancer Disease” under the guidance of Dr.R.Anitha, Prof. and Director/MCA, Muthyammal college of Engineering, Rasipuram. The internal invigilator was Dr.Govindan, NIT Calicut and the external was Prof. Chitra, Principal, PMC Tech.
The event was begun by the introductory speech of Dr.R.Anitha followed by the thesis presentation of Dr. Balachandran K. Following are the contents of the presentation:

• Introduction:Data mining, Lung Cancer Diagnosis, Types of Lung Cancer and Challenges.
• Motivation:  Lung cancer is one of the leading cause of death.
• Problem Statement: To develop an adaptive model learning Algorithm.
• Objective: Exploring Artificial Intelligence/Artificial Neural Networks based techniques like back propagation.
• Literature Review on important topics in the thesis.
• Results: Dominant attributes, predicted probability of instances, weighted approach.
• Conclusion: Adaptable, wide coverage, strong classifier, frequency polygon, probability density function and unbiased approach.

The presentation was successfully completed by him. It was the most awaiting moment for all and finally the result of his hard work was announced with the title “Dr. Balachandran K”. The entire presentation was able to give an insight about the process, ups and downs and the workflow related to PhD research. Eventually he is the role model for entire Computer Science Department, CUFE.
